Gender and LDN Implementation

This webinar examined the critical role of gender equality in achieving Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN), highlighting how inclusive governance, equitable access to resources and meaningful participation are essential for sustainable land restoration outcomes. Participants explored how gender considerations are embedded within the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), including the Gender Action Plan and COP decisions that support gender-responsive approaches to LDN. Through policy and implementation perspectives, the session examined how issues such as land tenure security, participation in decision-making, access to finance and monitoring processes can influence the success of restoration and sustainable land management initiatives. Drawing on practical experiences from national and local contexts, the webinar highlighted both challenges and opportunities for advancing gender-responsive LDN, while identifying ways civil society organisations can contribute to more inclusive and effective land restoration efforts.
