La Route du Sel et de L’Espoir (La Rose)

France

La Route du Sel et de l’Espoir – LA ROSE, is a French non-governmental and non-profit organization established in 2013. LA ROSE aims at promoting an area of solidarity between the Mediterranean and Africa through the revitalization of the economic, social and cultural heritage of the ancient Road of Salt that crossed the Sahara and the Sahel.

LA ROSE works toward strengthening cooperation to combat poverty while promoting cultural exchange as a driver for peace and development.

Its main activities are lobbying, awareness raising and resource mobilization to the benefit of people from the oases in the Sahara-Sahel region. LA ROSE is accredited to the UNCCD and, in this framework, continues to lobby for the consideration by development partners of the rural tangible and intangible heritage of African people.

LA ROSE got the support of African and international organizations such as the African Union Commission, FAO and CENSAD.

Active actor of the Great Green Wall Initiative for the Sahara and the Sahel (GGWSSI) LA ROSE contributed to the call for the integration of the oases space in the range of action of the GGWSSI.
